Apple Pie Filling Recipe

apple pie filling recipe

This apple pie filling recipe has been our standby for the last two years - easy, yummy, and economical! When we bought 80 lbs. of apples at our local orchard last year (and the year before that), canning apple pie filling was exactly what we had in mind.

Now we look forward to harvesting our own apples in the coming years. We recently planted 4 apple trees right outside our house and can't wait for home-grown apples! We know this recipe will come in handy when the harvest is ripe.

For a fun twist....

...we've found that this filling makes an excellent fruit pizza! After you've made your crust, (which can be made from refrigerated cookie dough or something else fun), simply spread 1 jar of this fantastic filling on top.

Incredibly Easy Apple Pie Filling

2. Bring to a boil. Add lemon juice.

3. Fill quart jars with peeled and sliced apples; pour syrup into jars and pack. Leave 1/2 inch headspace.

4. Put lids on and water bath can for 20 minutes.

And now.......(drum roll, please), here is the grand finale recipe that you can use with your freshly canned pie filling! It is probably the best apple crip recipe I've tried!
