Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Chocolate chip banana bread is a nice change from traditional banana bread.

This recipe comes from one of my very good friends and is absolutely excellent! The sour cream is what makes this bread so moist - and who doesn't love the addition of chocolate chips? This recipe makes two loaves, which is convenient of you want to eat one and

freeze the other.



Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

  • 3/4 C. sugar
  • 1/2 C. butter
  • 1 C. mashed bananas (about 2 large bananas)
  • 1/2 C. sour cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 C. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 C. chocolate chips
  • 1/2 C. chopped nuts

    In a large bowl, combine sugar, butter, sour cream, and eggs.

    In a seperate bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, salt, and nuts.

    Blend the two mixtures together and fold in the chocolate chips gently. Pour batter evenly into two well-greased loaf pans. I used shortening to grease my pans - the heavier you grease them, the eaiser it will be to remove them later on.





    Bake at 375* for 30 - 45 minutes, or until knife comes out clean. Cool for about 10 minutes before removing from pans.

    I used crushed almonds in this recipe; however, you could also use walnuts or pecans. Or if you're not a nut person, leave them out all together!

    Don't forget that you can use different kinds of chocolate chips in this recipe, too. Peanut butter chocolate chips are especially good. This time I used semi sweet chocolate chips; but play around with it and find what you like best.
