What exactly is a gift in a jar?

Homemade gifts in a jar are what I like to call "jar mixes". They're basically what you buy in a box at the store - a pre-made mix for some yummy treat. Except for these mixes are homemade - and the jar is cute'n fancy!

You can give these jar mixes away anytime you feel like it; just make sure you attach a little tag to the jar with directions.

Do you have to can dry mixes, like you would can other foods?

Nope! That's the beauty of them - they are a no-fuss gift. Since the ingredients of a dry mix are just that, dry, they will not spoil. You can keep a jar mix on the shelf for as long as you want.

Not only are these handy mixes attractive, fancy, and incredibly cute, they are so easy. (And what more could you ask for in a gift?)
